I liked the earlier pics of the new C class. In these pics, the rear looks fine - but the front ... ?! This now looks oddly BMW-like. Why why why have we inherited awful GM-like headlights? Have they used Vauxhall Astra headlights to save money? I love the sculpted lights of my C class ...

I think my next car will be an E, or something a little sportier. I'm certainly not impressed with the above pics ... although perhaps they look better in the flesh.

Comments?

the more I see it the less I like it. As you say though, it may be better in the flesh. I wonder if they will have one at MB World when we go there. Btw, anyone know when it will be on sale in the UK?

My local dealer said we'd be unlikely to see any delivered to customers in the UK until early 2008. I can't remember his exact words, but something like "we'll have one on show, and be taking orders from April, for delivery early 2008". I may have got the month wrong (possibly June?) ... but I do remember him saying delivery would be unlikely until next year.

I was in the middle of booking my car in for a service - hence my lack of concentration at the time and vagueness here :)

Wow - that's a heck of a gap since MB stopped making the W203.

I can't remember the timescales but this happened to a neighbour of mine a few years ago - maybe when MB changed from W202 to W203? It was a leased company car and MB let him have an E Class for the same price as the C would have been. And he's had E's ever since.

did you make a decision in the end Declan?

Yes. :p

Nawh, I'm not in the "new" market.
I've had enough depreciation in my last 4 cars all from new.

I'm hoping to get into a late 04 or early 05 W203, but all depends on how I get on with selling my current steed. Mabye I should just hold out until the W204 hits the streets and take advantage of the price drop in the 203's

I went from a 202 to a 210 when the 203 came out. Lots more car for the same price and made the 203 look seriously overpriced.

The rear lights are based on the current S. Not the prettiest but not Bangle either. The front has grown on me as now I've seen a photo of the interior of an elegance that's not too bad either. I'd only have the elegance though. MB saloons should have the grill and gunsight or they're not proper MBs IMO.

My friends lease is up on his C270. He went to MB to sign up for another C class but came out having signed up for a new E class for less £ per month than he was paying for the C and he even added a few more extras.

I've just checked it out, and yes, before I read your post I clicked on the link (how very rude! lol  ) and I thought exactly the same. It is a bit BMW, and the lights are definatly taking the Astra approach. I think that every modern prestige car company are just styling each other.. Infact not just prestige brands...regular ones such as ford, fiat and vauxhall.

What happened to the days when cars actually had some definition.. ?!

I think we should join together and form a car brand, :p Let's bring something new into the world!

Couldn't agree more, I mentioned in another thread that I think too many modern cars look the same from the side. Yeah I know aerodynamics come into it, but I think a car having some sort of defining character is nice too.
With some of the manufacturers the only way to tell them apart is either the badge or the front grill.

Sounds like I will be the only one so far who thinks the new C looks great. Interior is very nice with two tone colours. Orders are taken already and according to my dealer, first cars for the UK will be delivered late September 07, as an 08 model.

The new estate will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and guess who will be there? :D

I thought the same about the SL when I bought it,nothing much has happened in the past 12 months with the prices.

Many of the cars have their bonnet up. Hope this is not a sign of things to come!

Hi,
New E-Class will look the same/similar. It's new family face.

Remember the Auto-express E-Class pics a year or so ago?
