Had my GRB 2 days from new, washed it today and noticed the paintwork is covered in tiny pinholes. Internet suggests this is caused by bad paint job, more precisely solvent droplets in the paint?

It looks like woodworm, just smaller!

I'm waiting for the main dealer to comment.

Has anyone experienced this, what did Mercedes do?

Thanks

May have had some paintwork since factory. If you have a paint depth gauge may be worth reading to see if noticinly higher in this area.

If you don't a friendly local detailer may be able to read for you for a few beer tokens.

Better to be armed before dealer visit I feel.

Sorry if it was me I wouldn't be waiting for anything. Straight back to the dealer and money back. They'll moan and groan, try and fob you off, do a pitiful attempt at a respray to cover the problem up and basically anything to avoid their responsibilities under the law.

Is this problem on the entire bodywork. If yes then a QC problem from factory.

If isolated to a certain area, its not unheard of, that new cars are damaged in transportation and then the damage repaired prior to handover.

The main dealer will try and play for time to wear you down . The longer you have the car the more your case loses strength .

My inclination would be to reject the car immediately both verbally and in writing. If it is a manufacturing defect then surely the car should have been rejected by the dealer and not just passed on to the customer. It's simply unacceptable in my opinion.

Yes +1 reject the car immediately, especially if it is all over the paint and not in a localised area.

Try and post pictures up here if you can.

What colour is the car?

it does sound like a poor repair/paint job, could have had moisture in the paint.

Silicone contamination creates tiny pinholes in the paint. If any silicone spray gets near the metal before it's painted then you get these holes. The car will need paint to correct it. I'd reject it immediately.
