Hi, around 6 weeks ago I bought a brand new 220 CDI Elegance - we already have a C270 CDI which we bought in November.
To my horror I have already discovered a few "tiny dots" of rust on the paintwork surface of the boot lid of the 220 CDI. There are also some other defects with the car which is booked to go back the stealers next week. The car has only done just under 500 miles.
I assume that under the warranty MBUK will pay to have the boot resprayed, but have read from other posts in the forum that they will try anything to get out of paying out for work to be carried out.
On the day of collection of the vehcile from the stealers, deep scratches were noticed on the boot lid which were then polished out by machine, could this have anything to do with the tiny spec of rust occuring? Also parts of the scratches that were polished out are now starting to "reappear" again but not as bad as they orignally were. The entire rear quarter of the car ws machine polished so that it would all blend in with the boot lid.
Friends say that I should demand a new replacment vehicle where a car of this qulaity should not at this stage be showing any signs of rust.
Other defects include:
1. Condensation has leaked into the rain sensor box mounted on to the inside of the windscreen.
2. The rear passenger door is not quite flush with the rear quarter panel if you feel it with your hand.
3. The stereo mute button does not function.
Do you guys feel that I am within my legal rights to demand a new replacement vehicle, or just settle for the boot to be reprayed and have the other defects sorted out?
Regards,
Sal
