That's what Auto Express reckon anyway.

I don't like the rear side window arrangement at the C pillar & the new glass roof looks odd as the only metal on the roof is there to support the shark fin aerial.

I think it will grow on everyone. This looks quiet similiar to the W209 only squatter like CLS with low roof and i am liking the idea of glass roof.

Have to start saving with today economy to afford one of these though

Whichever way you look at it -and at the moment from a very long way off seems best- this is going to be a C class coupe based on the C class underpinnings and components.

Great shame that no E class coupe is planned. It was popular when they did one, is now a classic, and some like me valued the extra legroom especially in the back. And the extra bootspace.

When they first came out I had a play with one, and I agree that it was a very practical layout and sensible

The cabriolet is supposed to come out in 2010.

Whether it is a CLK, CE or E Class Coupe Cabriolet remains to be seen.

The article is wrong. On the other forum the car was reported to be an E class coupe based on the 212 E class. The C class coupe is the CLC. The new system gives every saloon model a 2dr coupe.

The engine list is E class models too. (500's etc). The glass roof is just a ££ option just like the 2 stage thing on 211 saloons.
