Hi,

Just had my wife's car serviced by Mercedes Southend as part of a three year service plan.

I was a bit annoyed to get to the dealership which is about 10 miles from me to find it closed up and notices directing me to a new location about 2 miles from me that I had driven past on my way there.

The main bit I was disappointed with is that all the new cars are in a locked area and used car are in a compound over the road so no browsing at my possible next car. This was how I bought my previous E Class. To view them you have to call about a specific car and arrange an appointment with one of the sales team. This is to "Enhance the experience" according to the very helpful receptionist.

Apparently this is how all the dealers will be set up eventually

Maybe it's just me, but MB UK seem to actively want to disenfranchise their customers in the UK. First it was the removal of the ability to specify a car how you wanting favour of very restrictive "packs" and now just Premium or Premium Plus, then it was their fixed price no negotiation approach, and now you have to beg to be allowed to look at a potential purchase. Sorry, but I think after 20 years of MB ownership, but current car may very well be my last Mercedes.

I really don't get it. So now you won't be able to look at the stock of cars? One wonders whether the time will come when all used MB's will be kept in central warehouses and you will have to arrange an appointment for the car to be delivered to the dealer and perhaps get charged ? MB clearly don't want customers do they or at least for used vehicles.

Sounds a bit poor, no sign of that attitude at my local MB dealership, there are always plenty of cars on display in the showroom and outside, they are usually all over themselves to try to get you to have a test drive, or even sit in one.

I always have a loan car when I book the SL in. If I wanted an A, B or C class, even the AMG version, I am well catered for.

I guess it comes down to the individual dealerships, those that want to sell cars will go the extra mile.

The reason we bought our first C Class in 2003 was because they let us try several variants, including V6, diesel etc.

They have actually moved from Rayleigh to a new industrial park just North of the A127 on the old A130.
