Hi lam new 2 the forum would like help getting new E200 kom next week wondering if engine is ok 4 the body size using it 4 taxi and putting LPG IN IT HELP neded be 4 l buy the car thanks
I believe the 200 is by far too small for E Class and that it would prove to be a very un-economical choice compared to a bigger engine size.
Is simply doesn't have enough power for the body size, and consequently has to work harder to do the same job as the bigger engine, thereby making it much more thirsty.
I also have a feeling that smaller C.C. engine sizes don't perform as well on LPG as the larger units.
I'll bet I won't be the only one to feel this way.
The base 200 is certainly underpowered. I'm not so sure about the Kompressor though. It will have to work quite hard though so economy won't be great, probably in the upper teens pottering around town. You'd need to drive it. Can't help thinking that 220CDI would be a better bet for a taxi - economy will be reasonable - especially when you factor in the cost of fitting LPG and the residual would probably be better. Performance won't be much different I would have thought and it will do big miles far more easily. There are loads around so prices aren't too bad. Get a motorway miler ex company car with FMBSH and it should go forever.
