New E220 Owner

About to pickup my first merc 2013 E220 with 110,000 miles

Looking to learn about how to spanner on the car myself and where the best place to get hold of the Star software and hardware.

Well I went to pickup my E220 and had found the dealer had lied to me.
Their forecourt was quite dusty so the car was very dirty when I went to view it previously but was assured the bodywork was in good condition, but when I went to collect the car and they had cleaned the exterior I could see almost every panel had small bits of damage to it.
Including a 2-3inch scratch at the back

Pretty ****ed off as I had already changed my TAX and insurance over to it from old car.

What a surprise! You can tell when a car salesman’s is lying - their lips are moving. Seriously, gutted for you but you will find something better in due course.

Haha When I was a Car Salesman many, many years ago we were always taught to sell to go back, meaning that when the customer wished to change his car again he would make you his first port of call. A repeat customer was not an unusual sight in those days

Haha When I was a Car Salesman many, many years ago we were always taught to sell to go back, meaning that when the customer wished to change his car again he would make you his first port of call. A repeat customer was not an unusual sight in those days

And I’m sure the senior Directors of the dealer groups would say the same now but the constant pressure to hit targets every month or lose your job means it rarely happens at the sharp end.

There's always been pressure on the sales team - especially at the end of the month or bonus period etc. The really talented salesmen/women are very good actors and while appearing totally relaxed, give the customer the impression that they (the customer) are the most important thing they have to deal with - whilst they may be inwardly panicking about the other deals they have to finalise. Unfortunately, the number of those talented sales people has continued to diminish as the years have gone by.
