Hi, Im Peter and Im from Indonesia.
I decided to join up here because the community seems active(unlike some other forums)and you guys seem like the good guys

Yeah, so I own a 1996 W124 E220 M/T.
I bought it secondhand and Ive been driving it for the last 2 years. I chose w124 as my first car and it was probably one of the best decision Ive ever made in life.

To be honest, Im new to this whole car world, no car experience whatsoever (I couldnt even change my spare tyre) so I always went to local Mercedes shop for repair and maintenance. But today, Ive decided to start and try to tinker with my car, for the sake of being a better Mercedes owner and the more I go deep in my car the more I'll fall in love with it, right? But dont worry, I already do. It drives like a dream.

So, maybe I should start on the easy stuff first, like doing oil change, air filter, the basic stuff? It looked easy at the shop so maybe I can do it too.

And thats why Im here, to share ideas, problems, and knowledge with fellow MB owners and experts from all around the globe.
I guess soon I will try to post a thread because I got questions. A lot. Hehe.

Welcome Peter, you're right, lots of good folk on the forum. Some with expertise, pretty well all with enthusiasm. People are generous with advice.

Hi Peter and welcome.
The 124 is a great car to learn on. If it has fuel injection don't mess with that but the rest is pretty straight forward.
You'll definitely appreciate your car more from working on it. The build quality on that era of Mercs is superb.

Hi Peter and welcome. How is the Covid-19 situation in Indonesia?

Hello, the covid situation is getting worse everyday. We got people still going to the beach and other recreational areas during the quarantine... Well, I dont know what to say about that really.

We got 686 positives, 30 cured, 55 died.
Thankfully, goverment had just began spraying disinfectant on some main street and high pedestrian traffic zones. My neighbourhood is going to get sprayed tomorrow morning so yeah I hope its gonna get better, thanks for asking.

Thank you, good thing I chose the right one for my starter Benz! Anyway, if I wanna post a picture and ask something about my engine can I just do it right here? Or should I go and do it in the corresponding category?
I just began to flush my radiator sistem and was retightening seal screws when I saw something rather unusual and really wanna ask you guys about.

Welcome to the forum Pete.:)
A W124 is a great choice and was the first model that got me wanting an MB for myself.
Lots of experienced members here to help out with any problems you may encounter.

Normally you'd post questions in the appropriate area of the forum.

Welcome, I visit Indonesia most years -wonder if spraying the streets will halt the virus?
Anyway , oil and filter changes , brake components all can be DIY with some practice - injection systems as LK leave alone !

Thank you for visiting us:D
Well, I really have no idea how the spraying might halt it.. but I guess it helps and it probably the only thing our government can do against the spreading for the moment..

Sure, brake changes might be next, I start to hear them squeal when I brake.

Hello Peter and welcome. For learning about servicing tasks, Youtube is your friend. There are a lot of videos from enthusiasts etc and you can usually find out how to do things if you're unsure.

Do you have "indys" (that's independents) in Indonesia - I don't mean general garages who work on anything but specialists such as we have in UK? We have quite a few who are forum members and often help out with problems etc. These guys are often ex-MB employees who have tons of knowledge about our brand.
