Picked up my new chrome key today (car only came with one that would start the car, other just opened doors, so dealer paid ).
Anyway the new chrome key unlocks all the doors on a single press whereas the old plastic key does drivers on press one and all on press two. Not a problem, as I if I'm on my own I often have a laptop bag or something that I want to bung on the back seat, and after four weeks I still haven't got used to the need to press the key twice.
Anyone else noticed this when getting a new key?
Implies there are different types of unlock codes that the key can send. I was thinking that as the DAS unit knows about 8 possible keys the "slot" for each one can be programmed differently - however I don't think the DAS unit is involved in the unlock process (only in the ignition/immobiliser).
