I recently bought my E280 which had a single point LPG system installed. This was horrible and un-reliable and within a week i decided i was going to get it converted to the new top of the range multipoint system. I got the car back a few days ago and (besides the un-related starting issue which turned out to be the starter motor, see engine section of the forum) the car is an absolute dream now. Its a complete no-brainer. I paid just over £1k to have the prins multipoint system installed. The car now starts from cold on petrol until it has warmed up and automatically (and seemlessly) switches to gas. When starting the car warm/hot it will start straight onto LPG. If you run out of gas it will beep and switch back to petrol. Performance is totally un-effected, there is no chance of any backfires etc. They fit 6 new injectors. So my E280 is now costing under 10p / mile to run. As soon as its back from getting the starter replaced i will post some engine pics etc. Anyone having doubts about LPG shoudn't have. If you do the milage, get it done!

I've had a Prins multipoint on my E220 est. for the last 2+years and have taken it from 107k to 177k miles without any problem, just a smug smile every time I fill up. 53 litre toroidal tank in spare wheel space limits range but I have not had many problems finding fill sites. Do you know of any POI files of LPG stations for sat-nav (copilot)?
I've changed filters twice: they weren't clogged or mucky at 30k miles! I think the advice to replace at 10k intervals is unnecessary, but who am I?
I'm changing to an E280 estate in next 2 weeks, so it is good to hear your positive comments. I have been expecting to pay £2200 inc VAT for LPG install. Where did you get the £1k installation? Was it cheaper because tank and some piping was already fitted?

Hi, firstly where are you based, do you have a buyer for your estate and what are you looking for? (my dad may be tempted)
The place i used was based in yeovil called pemco pitstop, i think they have a website. They charge £2k for the full conversion, but like you said as i already have the tank and piping there it was just the under bonnet stuff they had to work on. the tank is a 90 litre and the boot is still very good. are you looking at a 124 e280 or a 210? My favourite part of the car is the smug smile when filling up with £20 also..!! I dont have any CD's for filling stations, but i have before found a very good site through google where you can scan a map for stations.

Well now, that's an interesting thought! I live in Leeds, but I'm collecting the E280 near Bristol in early August. Serendipity? Email me if you like - I think mine is enabled.
I need all the rear space for occasional control panels, so a cylinder is not practical, unfortunately. I do get a fairly constant 22mpg (190-210 miles per typical 42 litre fill)

Thats nice to see you've done 70K on LPG with no problems. So far I have only done 20K and like you am pleased with the fill up cost :) but of course longevity has yet to be seen

For LPG points of interest try :-

I had my S280 converted about 6 weeks ago. I also chose the Prinz multipoint sequential system. I have done 5000 miles and everything is perfect. My supplier has dropped the price of LPG to 33p a litre and so things couldn't be better (unless he starts giving it away for free :) ).

I previously had a Mondeo converted and ran that for 100 000 miles without any problems.

Good luck with the conversion and happy motoring !
