    Hi Merc Form members,
It’s great to be on board. I’m in the UK looking for advice on my Merc getting through its MoT with what looks like failed front N/S suspension.
    Is it gas or strut?

    Hello and welcome

Most 211’s have conventional springs in the front although full air was an option at the time.

    Hi and welcome.
As above if you can see a coil spring its standard spring and shock absorber otherwise it will be air suspension.

    Thanks so much.
When I get underneath the car I’ll let you know.
Next Q is how/ where I source the parts and do I replace the opposite strut so both equal so to speak?

Depends on what springs you have....

Use the VIN number and buy from MB the springs aren’t overly expensive, they vary in length depending on the spec of the car, I would have them both done at that age of car.

If they're coils then MB. If they're air then anywhere but (££££).
