2017 Vito 119 CDI Sport (W447)
Hi all,

I am Geoff from Hampshire and I now own my first Mercedes Benz!

I was looking at VW Transporters but I kept coming back to the Vito and the I bought this 5 seater 2017 119 CDI Sport. I plan to do some simple personalisation mods and hope to get tips and advice here.

To get started, I was thinking:
* 18” wheels
* Roof rails
* Leather or leather effect seat covers (mine are fabric)
* Bonnet bra
* Tow bar

Welcome from yet another Hampshire resident.

If you want a good "indy" & you certainly will then you can't beat Prestige in Horndean

Hi Geoff,
I fitted the same wheels as yours to my 639, I'm more than happy with the look.
For me I would have preferred the 16" to the 17" for a more gentle ride.

For the roof rails have you checked that you have the threaded receivers for mounting them. The aftermarket aluminium rails would set your off nicely imo.

I'm pretty sure the seat rail system for rear seats is the same as the 639, assuming you have that, or the individual clip in receivers. Maybe the front seat mounting is also the same, so maybe easy to source 639 leather front seats.

I fitted the tow bar to my 639, it was easy enough. If I remember it was out of Poland for about £100.
I ran a feed from the under bonnet fuse box to the tow relay, but picking up from the rear power socket would serve the same purpose.

Nice colour for the 447 btw.

I really appreciate the tips because I am brand new to the MB world and only recently learned that mine is a 447

I do have the roof rail receivers

I have fitted a few towbars in my time so I do plan to fit one to the Vito myself for my motorcycle trailer. The electrics is the only bit I might struggle with so I will no doubt ask questions.

All the best

I entirely agree that 16" or 17" are preferable to 18" not only for the better ride, but also reduced risk of sidewall damage to the tyre.

If you want decent leatherette seat cover head over to van pimps and look at their punched leather seat cover range, I got a set over a year ago and they are excellent quality, good as the day they went on.
These are the same set I got but they have different colours. If you want I will show you a phot of mine for reference of the quality of fitment
