Hi there.
Just joined up.
I'm interested in finding out as much as i can about CLK's
Can any one tell me what to look for when looking for one (common faults etc)
Also is there a cars for sale section on the forum as id rather purchase one from an enthusiast.
Many thanks

Hello Clack and welcome to the forum,, the main thing on the 208 is to check for rust, the rest is all easy stuff,,have you an idea of a budget.

We do have the odd car for sale, but this is only now and then

3/5k roughly.
I was at an auction the other day and watched a 230 2000 full loaded fsh 74k go through at 2700. I was amazed so ive kinda set my heart on one now. I normaly drive BMW but these are really classy understated cars and i think the Mrs would be very happy in one. LOL

Great stuff. So just mainly the body work to look for? what about engine gbox? Is there any common faults. I know merc are pretty bullet proof and these are the last of the proper ones.

MB engines and gearboxes are amongst the best in the world,,sometimes some electrical niggles but all cars have that

I drive a SL500 230 so its too hard for me to say, I would say buy the one that you like, just take your time and look at all that you can, study the prices both at auction,, Exchange & Mart and Auto trader..

You should get some advic tomorrow

CLK320 IMHO, smaller engines don't always give the economy due to the size/weight of Mercedes.

Agree with blobcat, had a c320 and power was lovely, few things to add, if poss start car when cold and see if you can hear any rattle from centre of exchaust, CATs can be a problem, EIS and front wheel bearings come to mind, other than that a good car!!!!

The 320 engine is bullet proof.

As Col said. Watch for CAT issues as they are VERY expensive.
