New Member - Looking at possibilities for daily hack

Hi all,

Looks like you have a fairly thriving and friendly forum here, I'm thinking about getting myself a C Class Sports Coupe Auto as a daily hack seen a few early ones (2001) at obscenely low prices on the trader and elsewhere and having test driven one about 6 months ago I liked it lots but not enough at the time to stop us getting a new 3 Series Coupe instead for the wife.

I drive an Alfa 147 GTA daily but I'm finding it hard work and tiring after a hard days graft and would like something a little more point and shoot like the beemer but without the pricepoint.

So with that in mind I'd be very happy if someone can point me in the direction of a thread that has the info I need or a buyers guide on the forum. I did do a search but there are so many variants and odd numbers I gave up. :D

Cheers and hope to be sticking around.

Sean

hard to answer really.
Big range of engines - not sure of models - but basically elegance=luxury model, Avantgarde/sport = sports with stiffer suspension and a different trim.
Can't remember if they did a classic but if they did, thats a base model.
You can look at current models to get an idea of spec.
Issue wise - service history is critical obviously, no major issues really - just make sure everything works. 2001 models may not be galvanised so check wheelarches etc. If there is anything there and it has fmbsh, MB should sort it foc, but the sports coupe isn't known for corrosion so it should be ok.
