New Member looking to buy M-class ML280/320/420

Hi forum members

my work gave me a E class Merc for travel up and down to Aberdeen all week whilst on a course. I was impressed with this motor and in turn I am starting to Look around for a year old, low milage M-class ML280 / ML320 / ML420

I live in the Perthshire area and John R Weir is my closest dealer, I have googled them and so far have found no complaints on their service or aftersales.

I reckon there prices are a bit steep in todays market, and the part exchange offer they gave on my 06 plate Shogun Sport was indeed a bit of a shock.

Due to this I guess i will have to sell my shogun private, and then look for a good deal possibly by auto trader,

any comments and advice welcome

I'd test drive the ML, its a different beast to an E class but a lovely car. I reckon the 320cdi is better than the 280 as its more powerful and not less greddy on fuel (both are 3 litre diesel V6 engines). The 420cdi is a V8 and whilst much faster, aslo much thirstier and probably coming from a Shogun the V6 will offer all the refinement and pace you need in a car like the ML. I agree a test drive would help me decide, but the menatality of salesmen and garages today are unbelievable. They give you the keys for a 5 mile ride then its make your mind up time

was really looking to see if i could hire one for a day to make my mind up; but trying to find a hire company that has ML280 / ML320 is an impossible task

In these times the dealer should loan you one
