First of all, hello to everyone on the forum.

I've owned a 1996 C200 Classic for about a year now, and have been very happy with it. Trouble is, now we have a third child on the way, the rear centre lapbelt is inadequate and really needs to be replaced with a full 3 point seatbelt. No problem I thought, I'll just get a newer interior from another C Class - but alas it looks like the old shape C class NEVER came with 3 point centre seatbelts (something I find hard to believe). The question is, can I fit another interior from say, an E class (assuming they have centre seatbelts), a C class estate (which I believe have centre seatbelts), or at a push a new shape C class???

If I can't get round this problem, then I'm afraid she'll have to go (the car, not the wife) and an Audi Avant take its place.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

There are some companies around who will do a convension for around £125. Try www.luxury7.co.uk - they come out to you if needs be.

I am going to try the same thing with my 98 ML320.

If you have a good baby seat with 5 point harness, and secure it tightly with the lap belt at the mid height of the baby seat frame, using an appropriatley designed baby seat, I don't think there is anything to be gained by securing the baby seat with a three point harness. When my child was young most of the baby seats were designed for a two point mounting anyway.

Just given them a ring. They will do a centre seatbelt for £125, but it isn't inertia, just a fixed belt, so not really what I'm after. TBH I could probably do the same for a lot less. Thanks for the advice though.

Does your E class have a centre belt???

Anyone have any experience of swapping interiors??

E class

Funny one that - My 1998 E240 had a lap belt in the middle but I am sure my old (co. car) 2002 E220CDi had a full 3 pointer.
