And yes you guessed it i have a small question to ask
Just bought 2001 308CDi sprinter with 138k and when driving between 20-30mph there is a noticable noise
I have had a mate in the van and he bets it is prop related but van just had a new front prop before i bought it (bearing seems to have not been replaced)
I have been under the van and the center bearing does have slight play(at a guess 0.5-1mm max)
Noise is noticable 20 mph upwards but does die down after 30mph somewhat
is this normal
Any help greatly appreciated

Hi Malcolm
Thanks for the response i will take this on board and hope to god it is the prop and not the diff although i know where i can locate a diff at a reasonable price if it does boil down to this

Hello and welcome,, a diff can whine when pulling but be quiet on the over run

well just had it on a 50 mile run and it really is noisy at speeds of 20-30mph
over this you can still hear it but knowhere near as much
It is noisy even with no power on the diff
I have asked around and apparently there should be NO play on the centre bearing so fingers crossed this is the problem
Also i have been told to check the UV joint pair up finger to finger but i would not have ever thought this could be the fault
