I’m new to the forum and new to Mercedes-Benz ownership! Thought I’d dive straight in and go for what is (in my opinion) the finest luxury cruiser on the second hand market, mine is an ‘09 5.5, 80k on the clock with mainly MB service history and last few indy. The ride quality and power are unlike anything I’ve driven before.

I’d be interested to know of experiences that others have had with the W216?

some pics attached
Cheers
Will

Hi Bembo - cream passion leather with the dark wood trim, best combo imo

thanks for that , first pic aside i thought it was black :p , i truly hope yours is reliable pal , mine only broke down once when the crank sensor failed but the amp failed and replacement is eye watering new and they can suffer from battery drain issues too

Thanks mate, had battery drain issues when I bought it which the dealership sent to MB to get fixed, required a new SAM unit I believe (at great cost to them), so hopefully I’ve ended up with a sorted car!

Welcome to the forum Will.
That is a very handsome car indeed and the colour combo is perfect.

I had looked into that but the sort of power gains they were quoting seemed negligible, did you notice much of a difference?

Its not peak power that makes the difference pal , theres so much more to a remap than power , take my insignia vxr for example, remap gives just 25bhp on a standard 321bhp at peak but in gear / rev range in gives 90bhp and another 120lb of torque and as you may imagine its a ruddy animal with all that extra go , so dont rule it out , ive had over 35 cars remapped now , do you think i would if it wasnt worth it ? Think on . . . .

Welcome Will, you realise though it's not the done thing in a gentleman's rocket ship for one to be wearing shorts?:p

But would you say the same if it was a pretty young thing driving? ;)
