new member with a w124 question

Hi just bought an e220 w124 one owner with 56,000 on the clock it is un believable just like new- one problem the exhaust sounds awful sure enough looking underneath it has had the end box plus second section (not cat) replaced with some micky mouse after market box - do I assume that I should only fit original merc box ?? can any one help ? many thanks chas ps it is not blowing

I'm far from an expert in mechanical matters, but have you checked the mounting rubbers, I've found in the past that these lead to all sorts of odd noises when perished or missing. Might also be preventing the sections aligning properly causing the exhaust to blow at a joint.. Just a thought.

As Ade check the engine mounts they can through it all out of line as well
