Hi everyone,

Ive owned a few Mercedes now but have never been a member of any clubs until now. I’ve owned a couple of C Class Coupes both 2007, which I used as work horses, still the case for my second one which has now done 216K miles and is still going strong. Ive also recently bought an E220d Coupe which is in a league of its own, compared to what I’ve previously owned anyway, so I thought I’d like to join a Mercedes club for tips and just to find out other people’s problems/experiences. I am a bit of a driving enthusiast and cover around 40K miles a year travelling to and from work. I also own a Ford Capri!!!!

Cheers mate. I didn’t actually like the Capri when it was time for me to get a Car, as it had a bit of a bad rep with the chavs who were driving them at the time. Anyway, I got offered a mint 2L Laser in 1993 from a guy it work for £1000 which I couldn’t refuse, and slowly began to admire them!!!
I’ve owned 3 up to now.

The Coupe is a very nice car especially with the OM654 engine and 9 spd box

Yes the Capri does get under your skin I’ve got a 2.8 special tucked away that needs some TLC which hopefully will get the attention it deserves next year. I’m running a B*W 435i which I class as the modern equivalent.

Hi Malcolm, I’ve actually just traded in a BMW 335i Coupe for the Merc, a car which I’ve enjoyed for the past 7 years, and yes, I understand the Capri comparison you mentioned. Yes, the Merc doesn’t have the same oomph, but it makes up for it in every other department!! Anyway, I’ve got the 280 for the raw driving experience.
Good luck next year with your Capri. Maybe message me some pics when it’s finished.
