Just joined the club today.

My car: Mercedes 190E 2.6 Sportline auto tastefully modified with all original MB parts. Pictures to follow when I learn how.

Now for a matter that i think you guys can help me with. Recently i have been looking at buying an E55 AMG 1998-2000 (i think) as sort of a weekend car problem is i don’t actually know anything about them i.e. what to look out for when buying, what goes wrong, ownership and how to maintain? So any help regarding these amazing vehicles would be very much appreciated.

Be very carefull in your selection, these are great cars however very prone to rust.

Open all 4 doors and push back the seals on the top of the door look underneath them for rust.

also check all 4 wheel arches for rust!!

Basically, check the whole car.

so what your saying is there prone to rust then?
