I just thought I would say hi. I have just today purchased my first Mercedes-Benz. It is a 2004 W211 E240 which is in wonderful condition for it's age and below average mileage. I have already been speaking to and getting advice from members of the forum for which I am grateful. I look forward to being part of this forum in future.

Welcome, get the car rust proofed using something like Dinitrol.

Welcome to the forum OP, enjoy the car and the forum, Good point above re rustproofing, obv better do it sooner than the rust starts to appear. As a precaution beyong regular services any idea when the gbox was serviced. If no idea then get it done and every 40K odd miles!

I had an S211 240 from 2005 and only got rid when I traded it for the SL55.

The 211s are great cars. I had a 2004 E500 for 11 years and still felt good in it right up to selling it. Mine was galvanised and Aluminium and had virtually no rust except for a bit on the inside edges of the rear doors where the outer skin wrapped round. this was easily cleaned off and repainted and being inside the door edge didn't show.

I started off looking for an E320 diesel but had trouble finding one with a good spec so went for the petrol which since I only did about 5000 miles a year was the right choice both sensibly and fun wise.
