My 1989 300SEL has started making a new noise. It seems to be coming from the left front area. Sounds like a faint scraping noise or the wind blowing. It stops if I hit the brakes. I was told it had just had new brakes. What are the signs of a bad timing chain. The car has 150,000 and is in mint condition. I have many service records. I was told the timing chain was checked 1500 miles ago at the last oil change. Please help. I do not want to run in to trouble on a road trip!
