Hi
You have a good solid built car,and If your happy with it then fine!,I hope it has a FSH or some,I went to a site in the States to see what model you had and its the same shape as mine (500se).
I dont know how much you paid for it,and its none of my business either!,but as long as been looked after you should ok,I think Merc's are generally looked after,but genaral wear/tear obviously with a 18 year old car,but like I say if your happy with it,and you weren't "done" buying it,then fine!.
You'll probably allready be aware of the prices of some parts,but as with any car I buy,right away I try to change all the usual, plugs ect,i hope iv'e been of some help.
Some of the other guys will probably reply too.

Keep the engine oil topped up. Especially before and after a motor way trip. Be prepared for a expensive fuel bill. Ignore the first sentence at your peril

MANY THANKS CAR HAS SERVICE HISTORY UPTIL ABOUT 100K NOW AT 205 K BUT JUST FOUND OUT THAT LAST OWNER WORKED FOR MERCEDES @ STOCKTON

All engines can do. Usually valve guide seals will do the trick. Trouble is on the old 280's 110engine this is quite a big job.
