New owner of 280 se

Hi we have just purchased a 1977 280se and the only problem I am having with it is the cruise control. Everything on this old beast down to the clock works. At the moment it is not a thing of great beauty but it purrs since we tunned it up. (we only paid $500.00 canadian for it) Think we will drive it this winter then
we will sell our other collectors cars a ltd and chrysler and use the money to restore the Mercedes. Could some one tell me how to work the cruise control. I'd be surprised if it didn't work as everything else works including the sun roof. Thanks Estry

If its the stalk type like my one, when you have reached your desired speed pull the stalk toward the steering wheel to set it, push it away to deactivate it. When set you can increase speed by moving it upward or decrease by moving it down. Touch the brakes at any time and it is automatically deactivated.

it can often fail if the speed sensors are not working -

theres a control unit near the firewall on your drivers side, and a actuator (drum thing) with a cable running to the throttle - make sure these are all in place and in good nick..

try pulling the fuse to it and re-setting it?
