I have owned an ML270CDI (Registered Jan 2003) for 1 month now and to date have had to have a rear wheel bearing replaced and a new throttle cable. It was purchases from a MB dealership and as such comes with 1 years warranty. I have never owned an ML before so can anyone advise me are there any problems I need to look out for which may need correcting whilst under warranty? Also I have been reading some of the comments and there seems to be mixed feelings on where these things are manufactured either the US or Austria, can anyone give a definate answer?

Depends upon the age as to where it was made. I understand the older models were made in Austria and the later ones in the US. The Russian VIN no. site http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng will give you better details of your vehicle, but not where it was made.

Hi Rich,
I have a 2001 ML270 and recently had to have a full exhaust system because the particulate filter and CAT had colapsed - at £1400 you may want to get them to check it for you before they argue its not their issue. Can't help you with your question sorry

I think the ML may have been made in both locations. I can definetly remember Clarkson testing them On Top Gear when they were first launched and commenting that the American build quality and panel fit were most un-mercedes like. For the definite answer on where your car was built look on the main vin plate(the one with all the maximum weights, etc.) As far as I am aware all vehicles display the country of manufacture here.
