Hi all
Just returned to the ranks of M.B. owner after many years away.Had loads of "S" classes in the past, although never had the last body style one - anyway, I've had a 2000 Audi S8 for many years, although it's not been my daily car for some time-nowadays i just go out in it occasionally, and have had a succession of different estate cars for work-just bought a 2001 AMG E55 estate, and am immensely impressed by how well the performance stacks up against my trusty old S8(although i admit the traction control light does come on quite a bit!).It's gone in to Hilton Autogas this week to have LPG fitted(I ran my last couple of Range Rovers on LPG).
I note some previous comments i saw here about the difficulty of maintaining traction in the wet - well -it's just started snowing here in the midlands so next week should be fun!
i'll let you know how i do with the LPG-certainly it made all the difference on the R/Rovers -I was getting the equivalent of 35-40 m.p.g.from the 4.6 engine.
i've been told that the E55 cannot be clamped.due to the lowered suspension and wide wheels -certainly there isn'e much spare room at the top of the wheel - is this true, or just a wishful thinking urban myth?
