Sorry to continue the long running corrosion saga with eclass's of the 98-99 vintage however I have been chasing Mercedes via John Weirs in Aberdeen to rectify my corrosion problem with my 99T eclass estate. This goes back to July and I have now just been told there are new guidelines that were issued on Thursday and is now being dealt by Weirs Inverness branch. I have been told I will get responce within 4 weeks.
Any thoughts or knowledge of these new guidelines, I am very sceptical about this.

Thanks in anticipation :?

Its funny as I got a 'yes' in about 2 weeks so wasn't aware of any problem. The dealer then lost the paperwork and didn't ring me back, so I popped in, and sat at his desk and smiled until he sorted it - I find being friendly but stubborn works wonders. I am about to put in another claim in the next 2 weeks for the other 3 doors and a sill, so it will be interesting to see how long they take to approve. Given the latest JD Power survey and my 'good customer' status, I don't expect any problems.

I've had a mixed response time from Merc. I filed claims on the rust on the door frames (all four) and the front sub-frame the same day. The sub-frame was auto-approved and fixed the next week. I'm still waiting for the door frames. The guys at the workshop are helpful enough, looks like the
bottleneck is Merc. If the Financial Times article is anything to go by they are greatly exceeding their warranty expenses and this could also be slowing the response time, especially if they are trying to spread the financial impact around over time.

Be patient, but don't let it go. I've been waiting 9 weeks now, when it gets to twelve I'll be calling Merc's UK Customer Support Manager.

Yes there is some action being taken but bear in mind the number of these vehicles on the road it may take some time to get round them all
