On a 2006 S Class 320CDI with 20" AMG (5 spoke) wheels with tirfit system and AMG body kit I would like to know if it is possible to retro fit some sort of spare wheel (either to match or space saver type) ition ncluding the boot section so that all would appear as original equipment. If it is possible I would like an idea of which parts to get. I frequently travel long Spanish and French motorways and would feel more comfortable with a wheel. Thank you

I think that you will find that the space provided is far too small for anything other than the spare provided, Other than by having a spare laying in the boot, I do not see in answer. Many of us have to face this problem now.

I wondered if I could buy the section of boot floor to replace the section that accommodates the tirefit kit

I imagine you could buy a space save and the wheel well inner. Overall wheel diameter should be ok, even with 20'' wheels.
We bought a spare for the smart as that has tirfit which is fine in theory but my Mum has still had 2 punctures where the side wall was damaged which left her waiting for a low loader. Factor in damaged wheels and even run flat could let you down. Personally I think a spare is essential.

at last a good thing about the C-Class, it comes with a full-sized spare! ok it's only a pressed-steel one but at least it isn't one of those nasty little skinny things.

I do not even have the skinny one,i have a collaspable blow up, but at least you get the pump to blow it up, its quite small deflated and would not take up much room.

I don't think I have seen one of those. You'll have to show me next month.

btw, a bit off topic but I saw a lovely 02 reg SL55 AMG in the car park of one of our local villages on Saturday.

Next time you are in TP pop the boot open of any SL in the showroom the folded spare wheel is bizarre. I'm sure you will be back at TP before 24th Feb...

I have this feeling that your car will never go wrong again and that you will never see this wheel so here are 2 pics.

looks a bit like the front one off my mountain bike :D

How far do they recommend you do on that (and how fast)?

btw, car's back in TP on the 7th feb for 2 days to try and sort out the cruise thing again. You were definately on the money about the aerial amp and the central locking. Thanks for that.

With these funny wheels it says in the book Max speed 50 mph for a short distance, to the top of my drive ? not clear on this. I also see that the AMG does not have a spare as there is no room for it. every panel and corner on my car is full, when I fit the DAB tuner I may have to take the Anologue out. the box is only 150 x 135 x 25mm.
