New Sprinter 311 CDi long wheelbase (56 reg)

Has anyone out there got one of these? I run one and do about 1000 miles a week. My problem is that between 55 and 65 mph there is a vibration (it's not the wheels as I have swopped these with new) which I can only put down to the propshaft. Has anyone else had the same experience as MB dealers don't seem interested.

Secondly, oil! Costs a fortune for the special low ash type (Shell Rimula Signia 10W-40 Diesel) and is only available in 1l packs at £8.50 + VAT from MB dealers. Anyone got a better source and/or price? And on the same point, is there anyone else unhappy about change intervals of about 17-20k miles?

Not sure about the vibration but it could be propshaft or wheel bearings loose. As far as the oil goes check oil suppliers locally or Ope oils and if the van is no longer under warranty why not fit a bypass oil filter and run the oil for much longer durations.

having said that the cost of the oil can't be much compared to oher running costs.

Hi david,can not help wth the vibrations but oil wise I have just done a sevice on my son's O4 sprinter and used castrol magnatec 10-40 diesel. its on the recomended list 4lts £19.99 at halfords,castrol is a good oil been around long enough,you need 9.5Ltrs for a full change,I bought 3x4ltrs and kept the left overs for topping up as sprinters use a bit over the year and 1ltr is £9.00 so comes out cheaper that way, Mike,;):) ps as for the oil change intervals,most sprinters are flat out topping the 90mph mark just "all" the time so 15 to 20k yep that poor old diesel engine needs its blood changeing often if you want it to last to the 500,000 mark that a good few get to,proberly the most important thing you can do ie oil/filter/fuel filter. pps I have just realized your 56 plate sprinter is still under merc's very good 3yr front to back every nut and bolt warrenty? ask them to sort out the vibrations!
