Hi everyone

Just a quick intro to myself (just joined last week).

First off an apology as I've never used a forum before and being totally new to them, made my first post the other week as a try out. What I didn't realise was there were 7 odd pages of replies and not, as I had thought, just one page I had scrolled through and read! so sorry about that if it looked as though Id ignored all the other replies!

Well that particular topic (General - How to drive an auto?) - was a fascinating insight to everyone's opinion and great to see so many points of view, though sometimes after reading them all makes you a bit confused what you should do in the end!

Anyway a brief history - Having had a volvo 245 estate for near on 15-20 years it was time to move on as it was gradually getting more and more worn out and the head gasket had gone.

I was originally looking for a second hand Rover 75 or Lexus IS200, I suppose a mixture of comfort and spec/styling but going round dealers and getting a bit put off by the way some cars had been looked after, I happened to pass my independent merc dealer just on the off chance. I'd always wanted to go in but never thought I could afford any of the cars on sale, but having spoken to them I convinced myself to completely up my budget and go for a C240 that was coming in. I must say how everytime I use the car it is so enjoyable and although I’ve only had it a few months I am really happy with it even though I'd requested anything but silver (which it was!) in the end didn't bother me.

The only odd experience I have had so far was when I had to go to the main dealership to get a spare key (car only came with one) and having already been prepared for shock on the price from this forum (£146), I asked if there was any outstanding recalls. The reply was, I wouldn’t have thought so as your car is bit old now! - Er right OK (2001)!

I've got a couple of questions which would be great if anyone has some advice on but as they are electrical I'll post them there.

Many thanks...

Think yourself lucky that you only paid £145 for a key, they are £195 for a V70.
Or with a USA ford the car had to be scrapped as someone forgot to put the details into the computer and book
