hi team,

i have just bought my first merc, its a clk 430, and its stunning :razz:
the only problem is the sound system, it has a fault, it keeps going on to mute!! would anyone have a head unit they want to sell?

any views on this model of car please!! its a big change from my sti 8 ra subaru!!!

Hi Robin,

You don't say what age your CLK is - if it's the original shape then it shares most if its oily bits with my C43 AMG. Only real differences are tweaked engine, brakes and suspension. Well, and a 4 door shell of course.

Anyway, weclome to the world of relaxed cruising, snarly V8's and a bottomless pit of effortless acceleration.

Can't help you with sound system as mine is aftermarket.

Just a thought. When it goes mute, does the display say 'Phone'?
I am just wondering whether the previous owner ripped out a phone kit. When the mute lead (used to mute the stereo when the phone is active) is earthed it mutes the stereo and as it isn't live, it may have been left loose and be touching earth somewhere behind the dash.

thanks for the replys guys, mine is a 99 avantgarde, its stunning!! i have fixed the music problem, i took out the m/b telephone, hey presto, problem solved!!

off for new tires today!! then in to m/b for a "a" service!!

How many miles has your clk 430 done and what colour? how much did you buy it for? I have a 2000 clk 430, metallic brilliant silver,AMG bodykit,wheels and suspension. Sorry about all the questions.

shes done 59.000miles full m/b history 01/12/99 month/year

and i paid 16k for her, and worth every penny! its not even that bad on gas compaired to my scooby!! got to love that torque!! :mrgreen:

You tend to see more clk 55's for sale and not that many clk 430's. Strange as they made fewer clk 55's.
