New to Mercedes buying a C240

I have just purchased my first Mercedes,(98 2.4) C240 Silver with full leather, BI Xenons and electric everything So I'm sure you can imagine I am looking forward to picking it up next week.
My questions are:
What sort of MPG can I expect in the real world?
Is there anything I should keep an eye out for, to keep the car running tip top?
I have seen W201,W202 etc mentioned, what series is my car Aug 98?

In summary: 19mpg at it's worst to 35mpg at it's best.

Yours would be a W202. Same as mine

Forgive my ignorance but what does the series number denote? viz. W202, etc.

I've got a CLK230 Kompressor 2001 Y reg. Does that have a series number too?

It's the numbers that MB use to refer to a specific chassis or bodytype independent of which engine is fitted, e.g.

W201 - the 190 series
W202 - C Class up to 2000, old square style headlights
W203 - Present C Class with peanut shaped headlights
W123 - Saloon from the '70s to mid '80s
W124 - E Class with square headlights
W210 - previous E Class
W211 - Present E Class

Your CLK would have the designation W208 and if the car is a roadster e.g. previous SL Class then R is used instead of W - R129.

I've just had a C240 Courtesy Car for 3 months and I had a job bettering 30m.p.g. without being ultra featherlite foot.
My main comment is to beware of the 'electric everything'. Depending on the type of motoring you do, all these gizmos can soon drain the battery. I had warning signs after 3 months from brand new. So now I don't leave my lights on Auto during winter months.
