New to the Mercedes gang

Hi all,

Im James and i am new here, i bought a 2011 E250 CDI sport a couple of weeks ago. This is my first Mercedes after 17 years as a Ford owner.

So far, i am loving the car. I am still getting used to my first Automatic gearbox! But it is much smoother, easier to drive and a pleasure to be in. I do miss my Mondeo which i scrapped after 10 years of ownership, but I am glad I bought Mercedes.

Any advise for this car or driving an auto is welcome. Perhaps a transmission reset is needed as gear changes seem longer than im used to.

Im sure ill have plenty of questions for the forum in the coming weeks/months.

Get a decent Mercedes independent specialist and have the ATF changed (if there’s no record of it having been done previously)

Hello and welcome to the forum and the world of Mercedes. Mercedes ownership can become addictive! Where are you based? Someone may be able to recommend a trusted Indie to check your car over.

As for an auto box, you will get used to it and never want a manual again. Wait until you are stuck in stop/start traffic! Delicate changes to the throttle peddle become instinctive and a good way to make the car change up or down.

Welcome! The auto box will adapt to your style of driving over several journeys. The 'home' reset (of which much advice on the forum) I've found has never produced a noticeable difference to mine so much so I'm convinced it is a myth! But, enjoy your new motor and it will get used to your driving style and you, to it!
