GLC 220 D 4MATIC AMG Line
My first post as a new member! I purchased a new GLC 220 D 4Matic AMG line four years ago and think it's a great car except for the crabbing on full lock in colder weather, had many "discussions" with the dealership over the years where they tried to convince me it was not a problem just a "characteristic". As we drive to Spain each winter for warmer weather this "characteristic/problem" wasn't so problematic.
After 29000 miles time to change the original Pirelli tyres so the question is should I buy another set of Pirelli boots or change them for something that may help with the crabbing. I'm thinking of trying a set of Michelin cross climate SUV's that are all weather and would like to know if anyone has any experience of these and would appreciate any comments.

Hello and welcome

All season tyres do help with the crabbing issue

My GLC has Michelin Latitude Sport (summers) on 19in rims and I only have slight crabbing issues on cold tyres in cold weather. I would certainly use them again. What size are your rims as the larger wheels seem to be more bothered by crabbing?

PS welcome to the forum

can't comment on the GLC but I had cross climates on a previous vehicle (Ford Galaxy), and I thought they were just a superb compromise. Sadly I haven't had a car since which Michelin do the size for or I'd have them on in a flash!

I have 20" rims, a couple of years ago I didn't leave for Spain until January then I noticed the crabbing as the temperature dropped. thanks for your response.

Thanks, I guess it's a trade off. Don't want to degrade the current handling to fix a problem that Mercedes are in denial about.

Michelin CrossClimates are very well rated tyres. Forget the Pirellis, no tyre reviews rate them at all.

Thanks for the response, I have 20" rims which doesn't help the crabbing issue. I have put the Goodyear Eagle F1 on the list for consideration.

The problem is that 4matic cars such as the GLC are always going to have this issue with skipping, its not really crabbing. MB recommended specific tyres to fix the issue but what if the next owner doesnt know this and just buys a set of his preferred tyres, will the skipping issue rear its head again, I think it will.
