I ran falkens back in the days when 200bhp was powerful for a road car , think they were A209's , very good tyre

If I’d kept the 63 Falkens would have been going on....
Would you rather have the Falkens than Goodyear AS3's, they are the same price on Blackcircles for my SL?

I've got conti 285/40 18s on the rear, they don't wear too much, unless I put my foot down a lot. I can't say whether they are noisy or not because I am too busy listening to the sound of the V8.

Sorry to say I haven’t had recent experience of the GY AS 3, I think @daveenty did on his 212 if my memory serves well and he rated them....

I just bought Pirelli P zero for my SL 285 30 Zr19. Only because they are Mercedes rated original supply, match the others and if Pirelli are ok for F1 should be ok for my measly 430 bhp.

Not great in the wet, if I was changing all 4x would go Michelin but my bank manager refuses.

Pirellis are a popular tyre but I don't rate them for wet weather or road noise especially when they wear down a bit. I have just replaced the front Pirellis on my Audi with Goodyears (due to an unrepairable puncture) and so far so good.

Not much in the way of road noise from the SL, if the roof is down the twin turbo makes more noise...

I ran both Falken and Goodyear on my E55 and although I really rate the Falkens, the Goodyear AS 3's gave more front end grip.
I sold the car a couple of months after fitting them so no idea on longevity.

Likewise, I don't think P Zeros are that great, especially on the rear of a 666bhp E63. They don't inspire huge confidence in the wet at first. I'm used to them now and know what I can't do.
I'll be going Goodyear AS3's or Michelin PS when replacing them. The rears won't be too long I don't think.

Quick update - I had the Falkens fitted on the back. The only comment I can pass is against the outgoing (5mm across the full width Pirelli PZero) is that for this car, the Falkens are way, way better.

That is on dry & wet roads, 1 degree up to 8 degrees - a huge leap forward.

I can actually press the accelerator without waiting for the yellow triangle to go out.

Thanks all

Exactly my findings too when I came from Goodyear Assy 2s.

For a supposed premium brand, P Zero's really are a poor tyre, especially in the wet.

But not in N rated Porsche spec (in my experience)

The MO ones I have fitted really are rubbish. I don't think there are a huge number of P Zero lovers amongst the MB fraternity.
I didn't really appreciate in the past how much using a brand more suited to the car can improve everything, even going from a rated Falken to a Goodyear on my last car.

Agreed regarding PZeros. Had then once on my w220. Noisy, hard and rubbish in the wet.

Shows how different they are between MO and N.

Interesting you say that. I have had Pirellis N rated on my Panamera, C4S and Macan Turbbo. Hated them and switched to Michelins..
