If you can get them in your size Davanti tyres are really good and have one of the quietest ratings. Massive difference to road noise when fitted to the Mrs car.

Also fitted DAVANTI tyres to my Wife's Golf GTTDi as Funkboy states they are extremely quiet and the performance and grip excellent. But not sure I would fit them to my E350 Coupe though ;)

R230 SL500 - oh yeah!
In that case, would definitely consider the Goodyear Asymmetrico 2 or 3.

I have one of those on my SL and so quiet with good grip

Thanks chaps. Will look into those for sure.

I can feel the SL tramlining a bit on certain roads which I presume is down to the tyre width (the rears are quite wide as they say!). Issue is that the rear Pirellis will need changing soon while the fronts are fine.

Pirreli's go very bad when half worn,,, noisy and tramline, never again.

Thanks. Will have to think about mixing brands front and back (i.e. current Pirellis on front and something else on rear).

I wouldn't worry about it too much, problems occur when putting directional tyres (V pattern) on the front and assymetric on the rear, this can alter the handling due to the way they displace water.

Putting a Goodyear F1 Assy3 on the rear with a Pirelli on the front will be fine

I have Kleber Quadraxers fr and PS3 A/S rr on my 215. Haven't noticed an issue yet.

You rebel you!!!!!

It was all I could find in stock at the time I bought the new wheels, Camskill had very little available in 265/35 18s and I ended up sticking some 275s on there in the end, from... erm... some place in France I think they came, website I mean. Tyreshop or somesuch. Anyway when I come to change them I'll be sticking RS3s on all around as I have the correct sizes on the 211 now- thanks to you.

That reminds me, I need some very thin spacers for the front wheels. Can't get me centre caps on.
