Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm just a few weeks into Viano ownership to use as a day van. I've had very few problems just odd things to tidy really. I'll look out for your threads on specific problems.

Was this a B2B sale or B2C?

If B2C, you can reject the vehicle within 30 days no questions asked I believe. This might be a good option?

If bought from a dealer, return it for a full refund.
Don't bother messing around if it has lots of faults.

Put a link of the item number. Ebay listing still show when the item is sold

so to cut a long story i won a vito on ebay and the day i won the vito auction ended and i was told to self isolate track and trace im fine hey ho
so i decided to get a friend to do the honours and go get it for me which he did i never thought he wouldnt even look at it just handed money over and drove it away
go to mine and said it was a bit rough but it drove ok and done 80mph nb anyway on inspection black death never seen this before :(

see pics i have sat for the last day chipping this black crap away removing bulkhead for better access today i drove it to garage oil spat out the dip stick see pics and now puffs blue smoke could this all be related to the injectors all 4 been leaking i been chipping it away is there anything chemical that i can use to get this off also lastnight i jet washed the crap away could this cause issues

any advice or will i just bite the bullet and scrap it or what ever its a 2008 with 200k on clock no history IMG-20210701-WA0004 (1).jpeg IMG-20210629-WA0005.jpeg

Good lord, looks like something out of the film Aliens.

Dont despair, take a deep breath. everything can be fixed with time.

A few threads on this already and someone will come along to guide you.

I cant advise - but keep your chin up!

The black death might be troublesome. Till you get injectors removed you don't know if there is any botching gone on there. Of course it may be a straight forward as standard repairs, but all blowing, that's a worry.

Sump pressure blowing the dipstick out,
I can't see that being anything but serious, and don't see the injector issues being related.

Blue smoke may well be related to the engine sump pressure.

Whatever I expect an MOT failure whenever and then the diagnostics and costs attempting to right this to be significant.
How did your mate get it back w/o oil being everywhere? How far was that?

You've no recourse with eBay as cash was handed over.
You might be able to take civil action, but the more you do to it the less chance you have of success there, and then w/o the wording of the advert it isn't possible to even guess at that.

In truth I would be surprised that this Vito is worth the effort, sorry.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I bought one with black death, but only after I took the plastic engine cover when I got it home did I discover this
A expensive lesson we can all learn at some point in life. It's not a great idea buying a vehicle blind. ;)
With mine I chipped away the crud and removed the injectors, re-seated the seats, put new copper o-rings in and reassembled only to have the injectors still leaking. Lesson 2, inexperience in mechanical work isn't always the cheapest fix
Good luck with the beast :)

Sounds like you’re tackling it in a solid and workmanlike fashion. More power to your arm!
