For me I would want to inspect it cold. A seller who pre warms the engine might be covering things up.
I ask they don't pre warm and I feel to check the exhaust, near the engine, is still cold.
The obvious thing to check on these engines, and something your older engine didn't have issue with, is the cam chain.
Any rattle at cold start up indicates the tensioner, as a minimum, is due for replacement.
Then check for exhaust smoking, cold and warm.
Drive it, more relevant to the auto, under load. Apply the footbrake while accelerating if there are no good hills to play on. Feel for vibrations, they might be from such as poor tyres but could be more serious.
