OK guys looking at these wheels for my slk (171) do you think these are fake? He says "genuine AMG from Germany" and would they fit OK. would get the 9.5j for the rears.

Cheers,
TR.

I would hazard that they are fake.

If you factor in the cost of the tyres they come down to nearly half that price and that's for four!

I would think that these rims would retail for around £2000 at the dealers and even with a dealer markup I don't think that they'd come down to £100 per rim.

Amg wheels (code 797) that are standard on the SL63 are 19" staggered, so they must be fake

Bear in mind that if you fit non-standard wheels you should really notify your insurance company, whereas if you fit MB approved you'll be OK.

that's what I thought. Don't relly mind replica's just worried if they are safe.

I cant answer the safe bit, but in Germany only approved wheels are allowed to be used.

The finish and how long it will last is the other question

Many dealers do have stocks of wheels waiting to be sold, when they do not sell euromerc buys them all

looked at euromerc but they don't seem to have many wheels or any that I like. Will call in my dealers tomorrow and see what they say. looked on "alloys wheels direct" but if I'm reading it correct they are only a few quid cheaper than MB list price?

I agree these wheels are 100% fake, just look at the price. £675 with tyres and the AMG stamp doesn't prove s**t. Stay away from them, where do you live?. I know a guy by Heathrow airport who does refurbs. His work is very very good. I had my AMG's diamond cut there. He can can keep an eye out for you.

Hi, thanks for the offer, I'm still waiting for my dealer to come back with some prices. After viewing "nickvandijk" thread I'm very wary of buying refurbs now.

OK guys now looking at these (with the tyres from them also) does anyone foresee any issues fitting these to my slk (171) they will be replacing the standard 16" wheels now fitted.

cheers,
TR.

Just tell Chris that you are putting them onto a 170, he is a very good man to deal with

That will be fine as long as the correct tyres (size) are fitted, once again as long as they know what car they are going on, all will be well
