Went up in my brothers gas-powered e200, and bought a 500sel and CL500. The sel needs some new discs as they are warped, but other than that, both are excellent! Also did some scientific tests on the way home... both cars at 60mph next to each other and floored.. the older 500sel pulled away infront until about 100.. then the CL creamed it until we backed off! (This was on a private road near the motorway..ahem)

I still think and probably always will that the 126 SEL was the most handsome and of its time individual cars ever made, maybe only topped by the 600 pullmans.

Those models seem to me to be the last when MB had their own unique design, love it or hate it, before they dallied in the 'fashion look' if i may be so bold.

Your purhase prompted me to have a poke nose around and there is a chap selling a lovely 2 owner 126 SEC 91 (can't remember 500 or 560, the joys of getting older, goldfish attention span) with only 47K, but he does want £13K which i believe is a bit ott the way things are. It a lovely looking car though and one to keep.

I hope you get great pleasure from them, i would.
