Hello all, first post and I wish it was a more positive one :(

Bought a 40k miles 320CLK a few weeks ago (1999) after quite a bit of research and was enjoying it up until a week ago when I noticed what looked like oil on the fabric roof. Then 2 days ago the roof "jammed" half way down and wouldnt reset. I took it to my local merc dealer (Bristol, UK) and he has said the pump is shot and the pump alone will cost 1500 pounds plus VAT alone !! All in around 2500 pounds to fix :(

Anyone know whether this a fair quote ?
Could I source one myself (any ideas welcome) and get a friend who owns a garage to fit ?
Or recommend a good local (within 50 miles or so) Merc specialist who might be lower/give me a second opinion ?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

I would say try various sources, before parting with your cash at the dealers!
That has to an expensive blow, I hope you can get it sorted.
