Hi, just signed up and trying to see if the info I need is in FAQ but keep getting "no matches - please try some different terms" msg. Even for search terms such as "engine" or "radio". Am I doing something wrong?

Hi & Welcome,

I have just tried the search function ------------------------------------------------------------------------^
and it worked for me. It maybe better to refine your search using the advanced function.

I'm OK in Search - it's FAQ where I can't seem to get any results.

Confusion over FAQs and technical content

Hi MartinC

The FAQs is quite a short section and I've never bothered to search it myself before. However, I took your couple of examples and got exactly the same results.

I subsequently fast read the FAQs and these words were not present and thats why both our searches failed. The search result was perfectly correct.

I then tried a few example words I knew existed, like 'administrator', and the search worked OK.

Are you possibly confusing FAQs with the technical content of this forum? The FAQs section addresses issues associated with the running of the forum, not its content? That's why words like 'engine' or 'radio' won't be found in the FAQs. They are words only found in the content section of the forum. Read through the FAQs and you'll see what I mean.

The seach mechanisms of this forum work OK.

REGARDS

Phil

Phil, sorry for delay in replying. You were exactly right in that I confused FAQ with technical content. First screen I got on signing up pointed me to FAQ and the links to the 3 sections of FAQ did not appear to be technical related hence my fruitless searches. AOK now and tks for comprehensive response.
