hey there chaps and chapettes,

a while ago i had a 1994 c180, and am lookin at getting a c230k soon (after the new year)

in the 180 i had a major problem with havein a weakass diff and box, in 7 months of owning it i did 3 diffs and a box,

i know my driving style isnt the most forgiving but i was also told that the input shaft on the diffs of those mercs where a weak point...

... i wondered if anyone could conferm this and also advise me about the diffs in the c230k's, how strong are they? is there a chance it could be an lsd?

also when igo to look at this car, what bits should i pay attention to tobe sure im getting a good car?

many thanks, and sorry for the essay 2stroke:)

Welcome 2 stroke to the forum,, we have very little trouble with diffs on any cars to be truthful, what year of car are you looking for

I do not think that it was an option on that car

The diff has to be the correct one owing to the gear ratio

i know about ratios lol i got a bmw 2.5 with a 1.6 diff on it atm, wicked fun but crap for motorways,

anyway ratios aside, will it fit? i intend to have the stock open diff for driving but am also into drifting, so would have a welded diesel diff for the extra strenth for trackdays

;)

Your best bet is to look at the different car here and see what they use,, all of the links open after BM halfway down.

I did a conversion on a transit 13 seater without changing the diff,, top speed was only 75,, but what fun to drive :D as you said too
