Hi guys,

As the title says I'm a newbie. I have been looking to buy a W124 ('94 or newer) but to much suprise and dismay I have found that quite a few ones for sale don't have leather interiors! :( On a luxury car like this, I consider it a must!

I want to buy a black W124 and would like a black leather interior to match. How easy is it to source a full black leather interior and how much roughly would it cost?? Once I do buy it, how easy is it to fit it all?? Could one person with average DIY skills do the job?

I'd really appreciate any help on this topic. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can enlighten me.

I agree, that was the only thing that i did not have on my 124. you can buy a complete interior for around £300,that includes the door panels. As for fitting it is quite straight forward to fit,we can always help out if you get stuck. I cant remember if black was a popular colour back then.

I think Malcolms right - Black wasn't that popular. Mushroom, and then grey I think is the order of popularity with the odd brown and terracotta thrown in.

Thanks for the info. Where can you source it from?

Do you think black on black would be a bit too much (as I've never seen it), or would grey be better?

BLack on black looks nice, My friend has a black CE with black leather interior looks smart. When i bought my CE last year it had cloth interior i managed to get hold of a complete Electric leather interior where the front seats were electric i got the door cards and all for £300 was a doddle to fit back seats and door cards go straight in and front seats once connected to the door card control unit go in easily too.

Good luck in your search.

And anyone looking for a grey/blue cloth interior for a CE message me as i`m trying to get rid of mine, i`d rather it go to someone who needs it rather than the tip.

It's easy enough so long as you're sticking to the same colour. Putting black leather in a car with black cloth is straightforward

If you're changing seat colour then normally the carpets need changing too. And the plastic window trims. And the pillar trims. And the plugs that cover bolt heads. And the door cards. And sometimes the dash & centre console...

Thanks guys.

Bolide: Yeah I just noticed what you said. The cars I've been looking to buy have either grey or mushroom coloured plastic trims. These would need to be changed to black.

As I see it, I will be doing all of this because from what I've seen, black on black is VERY rare. I'm confused by this, as luxury and executive cars ooze class with black. I'd accept a grey leather interior but not mushroom, etc.
