Hi all,
I have recently purchased a C200K W203. It is LHD, as I live in DK, although UK registered, to avoid extortionate DK taxes
It now requires a little seeing to and I intend to return to the UK around Christmas and am looking for a good independant in Sussex, possibly Surrey.
I am looking at a service plus replacement of a faulty camshaft sensor (subsequsent oil contamination to ECU may mean this needs changing too).
Following the unwanted attention of an oik of dubious parentage and obviously too many keys to know what to do with - it will need a damn good buffing or more likely resparay to two doors as well.
Any recommendations greatfully received, as Christmas is coming...fast...
For those in no rush here is a little story attached to the faulty camshaft sensor that is likely to stir some kind of response:
Around the same time the engine warning light appeared, so did a smell. It was quite unidentifiable. The missus likened it to rotting cabbage at the time. As a "newbie" I duly looked up in the manual what it could be. It appeared that it was most likely either ignition or emissions related and would need some kind of diagnostic check. After a couple of days I pulled myself together to get it booked in but had to wait a further couple of days. The car was driving fine and I assumed that the problem was not that urgent.
When I took the car in, the guy behind the desk returned after just 5 mins whilst I was sipping my coffee and asked, "har du mistet en kat?", the coffe nearly came straight back out - of my nose. Translated this is, "Have you lost a cat?" Unlikely though it is, of course I knew instantly that I had been driving around with a dead cat in the engine bay for almost a week :?
Needless to say the windows were all open on the way home !
As you can see I have had a pretty bad time of it lately, so any info on service/repair specialists in Sussex - or others with camshaft sensor problems - would be much appreciated.
