- ML 350 CDI 5speed BlueTEC W164 ? / W166 ? V6 3ltr
Hello All,
Just purchased a used Merc and stumbled onto this site. Having joined up i would like to say hello as ive read through a few posts and like the detail of info And good humour without to much waffle.
Ok ive had several cars with the last 3 being mercs- E280 old but reliable, heavy and started to get noises and suspension tired, tried a new E220d est, too fiddly with menu options, not as economical as expected, then saved my life but written off in a crash on the M40, now just had this ML350 a week.
It’s a 2011 K MERCEDES-BENZ M-CLASS 3.0L ML350 CDI BLUEEFFICIENCY SPORT 5D AUTO 231 BHP model.
Not sure if its a W166 or a 164 as still waiting for the DVLA to send thro the details. I have engine / chassis number etc but not sure if needed to post on here.
Having driven owned a full fat Range Rover V8 4.4 diesel this is a very similar ride but without sir suspension it seems a little high. Ive noticed my wheels are 20” fitted with 4 x 265/45z R20 Pirelli zero Rossi’s, read on here that the uni royals RS3 are excellent.
I bought this as a little treat for my daily 70m commute up the M1 to midlands with the onset of winter, camping stuff didn’t fit in the others, the dog and oh yes the other half.
I will need advise on buying and setting a new key fob as only one supplied.
And have read the details Ona re-map but think a service or system check is needed first as it has a noticeable jump from 1st to 2nd occasionally - no noise or clunk, think its wear on the gearbox that the software needs to match for wear n tear ? It’s done 90K so possibly oil change ?
The ride is smooth, quiet, a bit wallowy but with 2 tons that’s expected.
It seems about 100mm too high and if this wa lowered then maybe the fuel / air flow may be improved, ive just managed easily 35 mpg on the 70 run each way.
As for acceleration its smooth, rapid and goes through to 3.5 before up change of gear. 5th gear is circa 70mph at 1800rpm.
Do i waffle too much ????
