Newbie introduction

Good evening all , I've bought my first mercedes that isn't a Van !
I've just bought a 2018 E class cabriolet 350d 4 matic premium plus. I really don't know how I've ended up with a mercedes as it hasn't been a car I've wanted ....ever !
But here we are and I'm quite impressed with it. Discovered a few niggles , but nothing I can't sort out. Just wanted to say hi and do my first post. Good luck all !

Hello and welcome to the forum and the world of Mercedes. The 350 is a great engine but make sure you use it a lot as modern diesel emission system get clogged up if they aren’t used regularly.

Thankyou Srdl, I wasn't planning using it a lot as it's a second car and not the family motor , but when it is used it will be for trips up and down the country work meetings etc , no short trips which I believe is detrimental to these modern diesels more so than just not getting used. It's a great driving car and I'm pleasantly surprised with it. I've owned a variety of cars from Bentley's to land rovers and Audis and this time went for a Merc and it's really really surprised me. It was really an off the cuff purchase and really don't know how I needed up with it. So much so that I'm now looking at upgrading

6.9 !!!! Crazy , but I bet it was awesome !

Back in 2001 I hired a dodge viper for a weekend while I was in Vegas.... My god that was a car crash waiting to happen. Not sure what engine it was but it was big !

Welcome, great cars the E class with the 350CDI engine, I have had mine for 11 years.
Talking about SEL350's with the optional 6.9 engine, I was an involved in an accident with one back in about 1968 in Bavaria.
I was crossing a narrow bridge in snow in an army HGV, he & decided to drive on to the bridge from the other side.There was not enough room so we collided. No damage to the HGV, but quite a bit to the SEL.
Just checked it would have been a SEL300 6.9 back then.

I was based in Germany too , this was a challenger 2 tank that had a learner toyota Yaris pull out on it while on route back to camp

Thanks ! I was searching for the 350d cabriolet but they seem few and far between , lots of 4 cylinder e300 and e220 but I wanted a V6 in some shape or form.so when I finally found one I snapped it up. Had to compromise on mileage a bit But the premium plus and airmatic and V6 is what I wanted.
