Hi Guys,

Can you help... I currently own an Audi but have been offered a C180 pretty cheap... It's a '97 (P), either 1.8 or 2.0 auto... Cosmetically it's in mint condition inside and out...

I thought I'd see if any of you guys could help with a little advice...

What should I be looking for with this specific model problem wise...?

Thanks in advance...
Matt.

it will be a 1.8. It's a little bit under powered but ok if you're fairly gentle.
As far as what to look for. History is all. Oil changes every 9k. Gearbox and diff oil every 40k etc. Basically they're pretty bullet proof if looked after.

I've had a '98 C180 estate for the last 6 months and have been pleased with it overall. I have to agree that it's a little underpowered for the size of the car.

Mine has done 200k miles and is still going strong. The fact that it had been regularly serviced by MB dealers and knowing that these cars are built like tanks meant the mileage didn't put me off. Naturally there has been a few minor jobs to do on it but nothing of great expense (shocks and brake pads).

If you are keen on the car you've seen, give it a thorough check over and check the service history - just as you might with any other car.
