Newbie needing help

Hi everyone - Im Kaz and I live in Bordon Hampshire. Bought my lovely black C class back in July this year and have really enjoyed being a Merc owner (for the first time)!! Had pretty much trouble free motoring - but like most people tend to look for forums when you have issues. RAC visit this morning as couldnt start the car - he reckons its the common issue regarding the steering lock ESCL .. I was hoping there would be a forum member/mechanic on here that could help or someone that could advise an independent garage fairly local to me? Thanks in advance.

Kaz yes that i find that the steeriing lock is a known problem .. Try this ,, sit in your car put the key in the ignition switch if it will go in .. turn the steering wheel to the left on full lock if you can and as you do this try and turn the key . If it works then at the very first chance book it in ,,i am sure other members will be on here soon who might know a good place to take it for the ESCL replacment

Hi thanks so much. Yes the RAC guy showed me that at the moment the problem is intermittent and sometimes you can hear the steering lock motor engage - have to keep putting the key in and out.. says it will get worse for sure.

Hampshire? I'd be going to either Star Motors near Reading or MBS in Southampton.

Both are excellent and both have done work on my cars (and I live in Northamptonshire!)

I have used both Star Motors and MBS. They are both excellent, having worked on my SL350 (R230).
I how have a E400 Cabrio!
